It's SPN/J2 Big Bang time again, which means at at last I am free of deadlines. FREE, I tell you! Well, this particular deadline, at least. Remind me not to claim two stories next year, because that was dumb.

Anyway, this one is for the Supernatural gen story "We Are Legend," by tru_faith_lost and chocca2. I'll update with a link to it when they post tomorrow, but in the meantime, here's the artwork; click for the bigger versions:

Here's the story summary, in case you're wondering wtf is going on in this artwork. :D

They averted the Apocalypse, but getting Dean out of Lucifer's clutches wasn't the end of the brothers' nightmare--only the beginning. Now, Sam's a renegade. He has the power of the Four Horseman at his fingertips, but all he really wants is his big brother. Forever. And what Sammy wants, Sammy gets. Except Dean, still bearing the physical "scars" from his interlude with Lucifer, has plans of his own, and he won't back down, no matter what Sam throws at him. What he does, what they do to find each other crosses the line from creepy into downright macabre, but when have Winchesters ever done anything half-assed? This is Subject Two meets one determined sibling.

This is what happens when the Antichrist plays God.

Thank you kindly! I used Illustrator for most of it and did it by hand, though I did use Live Trace for the trees, and the root graphic in the header is lifted from the interwebs. After a week of intricate hand-penning in Illustrator I was ready for some shortcuts. ;D I really like how they came out, though. Some of my best work in Illustrator, I think. woohoo!

Thank you! It ended up being sort of a prolonged toil I wasn't expecting, but it kind of came out awesome. Also, I think the wolf should come live in my house and keep my toes warm. :D

I'm still in awe, these are far beyond what I was expecting. And the details, Dean's creepy white eyes, Cas the wolf just...amazing!

Thank you! They came out better than I expected too, so we all get to be pleasantly surprised! :D I'm reading the story now (and trying to pretend I'm not, since I'm at work, but whatever ;D). So exciting to have it all done and posted! Remind me not to do things with deadlines anymore. :D

I haven't read the fic yet (saved it to take on holiday) but I have to say your work is very atmospheric. Knowing what the story is about you seem to have got the right mood. Heck - Sam looks threatening and Dean's eyes? Well Romero would be proud.

Wooooooooooooooooo! I put a ridiculous number of hours and many failed drafts into that header -- and we'll not even discuss my early and horrific attempts at lino-cutting before I gave up and went digital instead -- but it came out even better than I expected. Also, I learned how to use Live Trace in Illustrator, which is kind of bitchin'. (I used it for the trees, which if I'd had to illustrate by hand probably would've made me kill myself.) Skillz, I can has them!

Also, you're always right. Never doubt yourself. EVER. Except when you do.

I love this art set. The shadows on Sam's face are so perfectly zombie/dracula, yet it's still Sam, and Dean's undead eyes. Just EPIC looking and all the trees spiky tendrils. So well done. BRAVO!
