I'm guessing that most of you, unlike me, are not stuck at work today. Oh well. At least it's raining out, so it's not like missed horse time. Plus, my supervisor brought me a chai and a muffin! How awesome is she? AWESOME, is the answer.

Here are a few links to entertain and inform you, as you sit around the house in your pajamas and do nothing because it's Saturday. (Hey, it's what I'd be doing. If you're being more productive, ur doin it rong.)

To illustrate the need for greater protection of private personal information -- which Justice Scalia commented earlier in the year that he didn't see the need for -- Fordham Law students collected a dossier of personal information about Scalia that was available on the internet. Their report was 15 pages and included the judge's wife's personal email address and pictures of his grandchildren. Scalia is pissed. Yeah, dude. That's the point.

In Texas, a cop posts an ad for free stuff on craigslist -- only it's his neighbor's stuff. That's a new one on me, though the article mentions that people have done the same before with faked classifieds and yard sale signs. I suppose the moral is... um... keep all your shit inside?

Forget pigs, it's the cats you have to worry about. I've known that all along. Does it count as biological terrorism if you know that the cats have done it on purpose in order to take over the world?

To be added to the list of things that fucking rock: art student makes her car disappear. That is so cool!

Also cool: Going Dutch: How I Learned to Love the European Welfare State. I'll let it speak for itself.

And cooler still: Cops cut down on illegal street racing with a "Beat the Heat" program in which citizens can pay $25 to race a cop on a closed track. You know, what I really love about this is that it not only seems to have largely solved the problem without arresting anyone, but also that I'd imagine it's creating bonds and goodwill between police and people who were formerly seen as a "criminal element." These drivers aren't just going to the track to race, they're going there and racing and hanging out with cops. Like, socially. Apparently there have been programs like this since 1984... I personally think every town should have one. Even if my pick-up truck isn't exactly going to be a competitor. ;)

And to conclude: this looks like the happiest creature of all time. I'm just sayin'.
