I was prepared to say that this Transformers costume that actually transforms was the best Halloween/convention costume ever:

But then I discovered (via yootubez, of course) that apparently everybody's got one of these. Some are much lamer than others, and some are actually pretty intricate and I think at this point it's safe to say that there's a subculture. A whole subculture of people who, apparently in spite of the horror of badness it that is the latest films, still like the Transformers.

More power to you, people. Alls I know is, I want one of these. I will name it Carl and it will be my friend and I will tell it all my secrets. (I don't have any.) The end.

the phrase "i hope you die in a fire" has never been more appropriate.

I kind of have a thing for fire. More specifically, I have a thing for fire pits (or fire bowls, or fire containers, or whatever you want to call them) with cozy little fires burning in them and me roasting marshmallows. So I was delighted to stumble across the website of John T. Unger, who makes gorgeous firebowls which I haven't a hope of affording but I do like admiring from a distance.

I happened across his site because people have been spreading the word on social networking sites about the lawsuit he's engaged in: an imitator producing knock-offs of his artisanal firebowls is suing him to try to invalidate his copyrights. What a fucking weasel.

If you want to help, he's selling really kind of adorable little "fire imp" tabletop sculpture pieces, as well as offering discounts on his firebowls to help fund his legal defense.
