I don't really have anything terribly intelligent to say today, but I did want to inform you that Sherlock Holmes is a fucking awesome movie. Mal and I went to see it today and we had a grand old time. There were fights and explanations and shenanigans and Robert Downey Jr. was hot and shirtless and Jude Law was hot and regrettably not shirtless, and for a few hours all was right with the world.

Also, I have a strong suspicion that slash fandom is going to find a lot of material to mine here. A LOT.

Speaking of movies, just discovered via posters in the theater that there's a new angel-centric movie coming out with Paul Bettany. Clearly they are marketing this poster to me specifically, because it has Paul Bettany without a shirt, with wings, and covered in tattoos. Sure, just hit all my kinks at once, guys. Nice. Incidentally, it also has Kevin Durand (who gets more than a bit part in this one; he's Gabriel!), Dennis Quaid, Jon Tenney, Tyrese Gibson, and even Lucas Black! Hi, Lucas Black! You can watch the trailer and stuff here. It looks like it could be awesome or could be crappy. I can't tell. There are a lot of explosions and that's not normally a good sign, but it looks like they're going to awesome and super-fucking-creepy places with the angels, so it could rock. And, Paul Bettany. I will undoubtedly be seeing it in the theater, so I will report back on whether it's awesome.

Also on my list of movies that look badass is The Wolfman with Benicio del Toro and a load of other awesome people. I love werewolf movies. LOVE them. Even the bad ones. (Okay, maybe especially the bad ones.) But I will tell you what I never understand about werewolf movies: why do the werewolves always look like they have mange? I mean, come on. They're changing into wolf-people. They don't wear clothes. They need some fur, monster-makers! One day, I hope to see werewolves designed with thick and glorious pelts which will make them look as awesome as they truly are. Or would be. If they existed. WHATEVER.

Anyway, I had a lovely Christmas. I spent it coddling my horse and my dog. Juno got a nice grooming and full-body massage and Trudeau got to lounge about in the grass while chewing on a meaty knucklebone. And we all got the gift of a day so sunny and beautiful that I was stripped down to a tank top. A tank top! In December!

Danceswithgary made a gorgeous manip from the movie posters with John and Rodney--John is the angel and it is a thing of beauty. She also wrote a pretty cool story to go with: http://danceswithgary.livejournal.com/359591.html.
